Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 10.46% or 0.613 points to trade at 6.473 at the close. Acerinox (MC:ACX) added 5.72% or 0.620 points to end at 11.465 and ACS Const. (MC:ACS) was up 5.22% or 1.405 points to 28.325 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BBVA (MC:BBVA), which lost 5.70% or 0.370 points to trade at 6.120 in late trade. Gamesa (MC:GAM) declined 4.22% or 0.810 points to end at 18.390 and Iberdrola (MC:IBE) shed 2.05% or 0.124 points to 5.921.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 99 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.29% or 3.75 to $1278.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.51% or 0.68 to hit $45.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.35% or 0.62 to trade at $46.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.83% to 1.0935, while EUR/GBP fell 1.29% to 0.8789.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 98.43.
