Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Glass, Cement & Glass and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were 1St Copper Tec (TW:2009), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Twn Glass Ind (TW:1802) added 10.00% or 1.50 points to end at 16.50 and Bonny Worldwide Ltd (TW:8467) was up 9.99% or 3.85 points to 42.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genius (TW:3406), which lost 5.70% or 12.00 points to trade at 198.50 in late trade. Twn Pulp & Pap (TW:1902) declined 3.35% or 0.45 points to end at 13.00 and China Electric (TW:1611) shed 3.15% or 0.28 points to 8.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 463 to 302 and 116 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.35% or 0.19 to $54.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.42% or 0.24 to hit $56.90 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.35% or 4.35 to trade at $1234.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 30.816, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2232.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 101.50.
