Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.13%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 1.66% or 0.38 points to trade at 23.25 at the close. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) added 1.26% or 0.53 points to end at 42.26 and Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) was up 1.02% or 0.058 points to 5.718 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.48% or 0.20 points to trade at 13.30 in late trade. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) declined 1.26% or 0.24 points to end at 19.14 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 0.89% or 1.05 points to 117.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Dassault Aviation (PA:AVMD) which rose 2.75% to 1345.35, Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which was up 2.31% to settle at 63.22 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 2.17% to close at 43.99.
The worst performers were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which was down 1.83% to 9.45 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which lost 1.49% to settle at 67.42 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) which was down 1.48% to 13.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 368 to 258 and 87 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.07% to 13.62.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.33% or 4.18 to $1251.32 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.49% or 0.25 to hit $51.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.24 to trade at $53.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8643.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.33.
