Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which rose 4.78% or 13.00 points to trade at 285.00 at the close. Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) added 3.34% or 13.00 points to end at 402.00 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) was up 3.24% or 109.5 points to 3486.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which lost 2.08% or 0.0615 points to trade at 2.9000 in late trade. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) declined 1.64% or 0.555 points to end at 33.255 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) shed 1.20% or 120.0 points to 9900.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 145 to 73 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.69% to 24.400.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.28% or 3.35 to $1186.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.82% or 0.98 to hit $52.80 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.06% or 1.16 to trade at $55.08 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.05% to 59.7949, while EUR/RUB fell 0.63% to 63.919.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 100.62.
