Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Banking and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 8.81% or 26.0 points to trade at 321.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sharp Corp. (T:6753) added 6.47% or 9.0 points to end at 148.0 and ANA Holdings Inc. (T:9202) was up 3.31% or 11.1 points to 346.4 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (T:8331), which fell 4.58% or 40.0 points to trade at 834.0 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) declined 4.54% or 44.0 points to end at 925.0 and Kubota Corp. (T:6326) was down 4.00% or 74.5 points to 1790.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 997 to 873 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.81% or 26.0 to 321.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.31% to 25.71.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.10% or 0.52 to $47.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.00% or 0.50 to hit $50.75 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.76% or 8.80 to trade at $1155.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 119.83, while EUR/JPY fell 0.05% to 136.28.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 94.81.
