Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 2.70% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index declined 1.35%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 11.76% or 0.200 points to trade at 1.900 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 3.62% or 0.019 points to end at 0.544 and Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) was up 0.67% or 0.02 points to 3.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which fell 8.13% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.130 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) declined 5.19% or 0.027 points to end at 0.493 and Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) was down 4.98% or 0.330 points to 6.300.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Aviation (AD:ADAV) which rose 14.65% to 3.13, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 14.29% to settle at 1.12 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which gained 0.58% to close at 8.70.

The worst performers were Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 6.06% to 1.55 in late trade, Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which lost 5.26% to settle at 0.540 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was down 4.43% to 6.90 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 21 to 4 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 20 fell and 4 advanced.

Shares in Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) rose to 5-year highs; up 11.76% or 0.200 to 1.900.

Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.15% or 0.07 to $47.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.20 to trade at $1117.30 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.36% to 4.0138.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 97.52.
