United Arab Emirates stocks higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.17%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Services and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.17%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.29%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which rose 2.70% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.140 at the close. Meanwhile, Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) added 2.59% or 0.011 points to end at 0.435 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 1.78% or 0.008 points to 0.458 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 5.36% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.590 at the close. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) declined 3.50% or 0.070 points to end at 2.000 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was down 2.31% or 0.015 points to 0.635.

The top performers on the ADX General were Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which rose 3.86% to 2.42, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was up 3.53% to settle at 0.88 and Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which gained 3.33% to close at 0.310.

The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 9.26% to 2.70 in late trade, Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which lost 4.29% to settle at 3.35 and Finance House (AD:FH) which was down 2.17% to 2.25 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 13 to 11 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 15 rose and 8 declined.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.41% or 0.60 to $42.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.30% or 0.60 to hit $45.52 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.18% or 1.90 to trade at $1071.90 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.56% to 3.8866.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 100.11.
