Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BR Properties SA (SA:BRPR3), which rose 4.81% or 0.39 points to trade at 8.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) added 4.53% or 0.86 points to end at 19.86 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was up 4.12% or 0.25 points to 6.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3), which fell 3.41% or 1.37 points to trade at 38.75 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) declined 3.18% or 0.16 points to end at 4.87 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was down 2.94% or 0.71 points to 23.41.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 174 to 144 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.41% or 1.37 to 38.75. Shares in Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) rose to all time highs; up 4.53% or 0.86 to 19.86. Shares in EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) fell to all time lows; falling 3.18% or 0.16 to 4.87.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.82% to 41.67.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1067.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.78% or 1.02 to hit $37.84 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.98% or 2.35 to trade at $121.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.16% to 3.8644, while EUR/BRL fell 0.18% to 4.2251.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 98.22.
