Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Textile and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.18% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which rose 9.05% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.41 at the close. Radiant (TW:6176) added 8.01% or 3.55 points to end at 47.85 and Gordon Auto (TW:1524) was up 7.27% or 0.56 points to 8.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eclat Textile (TW:1476), which lost 10.00% or 34.50 points to trade at 310.50 in late trade. K.S. Terminals (TW:3003) declined 9.96% or 3.70 points to end at 33.45 and Chlitina (TW:4137) shed 9.95% or 21.50 points to 194.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 495 to 254 and 100 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.63% or 0.73 to $45.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.10% or 0.50 to hit $45.87 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.90% or 11.65 to trade at $1282.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 32.405, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2005.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 93.89.
