Investing.com - Canada's trade deficit narrowed unexpectedly in June, as exports surged 6.3% while imports declined 0.6%, official data showed on Wednesday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that Canada’s trade deficit was C480 million in June, compared to a deficit of C$3.37 billion in May, whose figure was revised from a previously reported deficit of C$3.34 billion.
Analysts had expected Canada to post a trade deficit of C$2.8 billion in June.
Canada's exports increased 6.3% in June, while imports edged down 0.6%. Export volumes rose 4.8% and prices 1.5%. For imports, volumes declined 0.9% while prices were up 0.3%.
USD/CAD was trading at 1.3144 from around 1.3170 ahead of the release of the data.
