Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Green Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty fell 0.06%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were IDFC LIMITED (NSE:IDFC), which rose 4.30% or 5.75 points to trade at 139.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC) added 2.90% or 2.20 points to end at 78.10 and POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NSE:PGRD) was up 2.28% or 3.05 points to 136.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Reliance Industries Ltd (NSE:RELI), which fell 1.93% or 17.30 points to trade at 878.10 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NSE:ASPN) declined 1.35% or 11.35 points to end at 829.70 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NSE:BRTI) was down 1.29% or 4.60 points to 352.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 2.64% to 4520.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was up 2.43% to settle at 78.00 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 2.05% to close at 527.90.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.94% to 877.70 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.43% to settle at 1184.40 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.32% to 314.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 914 to 500 and 11 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 477 rose and 273 declined, while 7 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 0.63% to 18.1775.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.60 to $1136.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.55% or 0.70 to hit $45.72 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.74% or 0.82 to trade at $48.30 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.29% to 65.677, while EUR/INR fell 0.45% to 74.1130.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 95.45.
