Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Cement sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025), which rose 9.55% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.18 at the close. Tpk Holding (TW:3673) added 9.27% or 6.90 points to end at 81.30 and Chlitina (TW:4137) was up 7.83% or 18.00 points to 248.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.64% or 0.24 points to trade at 2.25 in late trade. Catcher Tech (TW:2474) declined 5.95% or 15.00 points to end at 237.00 and Novatek Microe (TW:3034) shed 5.63% or 6.50 points to 109.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 396 to 350 and 106 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.46% or 0.19 to $41.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.58% or 0.25 to hit $43.16 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.32% or 4.00 to trade at $1239.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.62% to 32.196, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2006.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 94.28.
