Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 2.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 4.20% or 0.0100 points to trade at 0.2480 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 3.71% or 0.1510 points to end at 4.2200 and EDP (LS:EDP) was up 3.58% or 0.1070 points to 3.0960 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which lost 0.62% or 0.0060 points to trade at 0.9640 in late trade. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) declined 0.37% or 0.0008 points to end at 0.2143 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) gained 0.49% or 0.002 points to 0.410.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 30 to 8 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was up 2.09% or 1.10 to $53.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.09% or 1.03 to hit $50.38 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.90 to trade at $1251.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.80% to 1.1192, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8596.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 97.15.
