Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Public Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.95% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 5.68% or 0.96 points to trade at 17.85 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 4.08% or 0.570 points to end at 14.540 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 3.59% or 0.55 points to 15.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 2.47% or 0.24 points to trade at 9.47 in late trade. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 2.08% or 0.11 points to end at 5.17 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) shed 1.91% or 0.47 points to 24.18.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 185 to 179 and 21 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.93% to 31.17.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 2.08% or 27.65 to $1354.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.99% or 0.44 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.47% or 2.22 to trade at $153.57 .
USD/BRL was down 2.41% to 3.2047, while EUR/BRL fell 1.49% to 3.6046.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.95% at 94.83.
