Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Glass and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 3.02% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Mosel (TW:2342), which rose 9.93% or 0.28 points to trade at 3.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Thunder Tiger (TW:8033) added 4.46% or 0.40 points to end at 9.36 and Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) was up 4.42% or 0.19 points to 4.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gigastorage (TW:2406), which fell 10.00% or 1.75 points to trade at 15.75 at the close. Htc Corp (TW:2498) declined 10.00% or 4.95 points to end at 44.55 and Edimax Tech (TW:3047) was down 10.00% or 0.86 points to 7.74.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 796 to 46.
Shares in Gigastorage (TW:2406) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 1.75 to 15.75. Shares in Htc Corp (TW:2498) fell to 3-years lows; down 10.00% or 4.95 to 44.55. Shares in Edimax Tech (TW:3047) fell to 3-years lows; falling 10.00% or 0.86 to 7.74.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.25% or 0.52 to $40.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.99% or 0.46 to hit $46.16 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.42% or 4.80 to trade at $1158.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 32.688, while TWD/CNY rose 0.51% to 0.1978.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.48.
