Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB), which rose 1.64% or 2.02 points to trade at 125.02 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 0.42% or 3.00 points to end at 720.00 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 0.07% or 0.01 points to 14.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 9.45% or 0.19 points to trade at 1.82 in late trade. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 8.59% or 0.11 points to end at 1.18 and Tiger Branded Consumer Goods PLC (LAGOS:TIGERBRD) shed 4.86% or 0.29 points to 5.68.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 31 to 13 and 49 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.50% or 0.24 to $47.96 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $49.05 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.95 to trade at $1276.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.02% to 225.350, while USD/NGN rose 0.01% to 199.050.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 94.46.
