Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 2.77% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which rose 21.05% or 20.0000 points to trade at 115.0000 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered PLC (LONDON:STAN) added 6.34% or 42.300 points to end at 709.000 and Weir Group PLC (LONDON:WEIR) was up 6.29% or 77.00 points to 1301.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Imperial Tobacco Group PLC (LONDON:IMT), which rose 0.24% or 8.00 points to trade at 3377.00 at the close. National Grid PLC (LONDON:NG) added 0.26% or 2.40 points to end at 934.40 and Royal Mail PLC (LONDON:RMG) was up 0.42% or 1.90 points to 457.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1741 to 435 and 428 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.28% or 3.20 to $1133.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.31% or 1.05 to hit $46.59 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.82% or 1.35 to trade at $49.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.19% to 1.5156, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.7377.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 96.23.
