Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.36% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC), which rose 10.00% or 6.800 points to trade at 74.800 at the close. ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) added 7.31% or 94.0 points to end at 1380.0 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was up 3.97% or 36.00 points to 943.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which lost 3.05% or 12.15 points to trade at 385.85 in late trade. Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) declined 2.28% or 18.0 points to end at 772.0 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 2.17% or 13.50 points to 608.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 116 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.69% to 24.320.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.19% or 2.35 to $1212.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.60% or 0.77 to hit $47.47 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.42 to trade at $48.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.05% to 63.8830, while EUR/RUB fell 0.26% to 67.861.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 101.10.
