Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Staples and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.74%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 5.37% or 0.08 points to trade at 1.57 at the close. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) added 3.01% or 0.040 points to end at 1.370 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was up 2.96% or 0.040 points to 1.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commercial Bank of Dubai P.S.C. (DU:CBD), which lost 3.85% or 0.200 points to trade at 5.000 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 1.73% or 0.009 points to end at 0.510 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) shed 1.05% or 0.020 points to 1.880.
The top performers on the ADX General were Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which rose 6.00% to 1.060, Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was up 5.00% to settle at 1.470 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which gained 4.60% to close at 5.00.
The worst performers were Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which was down 8.59% to 1.170 in late trade, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which lost 4.44% to settle at 2.15 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 1.96% to 0.500 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 15 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 9 declined, while 9 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.25% or 0.13 to $52.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.23% or 0.13 to hit $55.59 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.85 to trade at $1231.25 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.74% to 3.9196.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.78% at 100.62.
