Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 2.67% or 0.560 points to trade at 21.565 at the close. Gas Natural (MC:GAS) added 1.28% or 0.245 points to end at 19.385 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) was up 1.12% or 0.012 points to 1.085 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG), which lost 2.72% or 0.176 points to trade at 6.300 in late trade. Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) declined 1.85% or 0.20 points to end at 10.36 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) shed 1.75% or 0.27 points to 15.17.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 89 to 77 and 13 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.26% or 3.25 to $1249.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $48.08 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.23 to trade at $50.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0810, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8661.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 99.41.
