Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN), which rose 6.64% or 8.1500 points to trade at 130.9500 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL) added 6.03% or 41.20 points to end at 725.00 and EasyJet PLC (LONDON:EZJ) was up 5.38% or 90.000 points to 1762.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Weir Group PLC (LONDON:WEIR), which fell 1.12% or 15.00 points to trade at 1328.00 at the close. RSA Insurance Group PLC (LONDON:RSA) declined 0.20% or 1.000 points to end at 508.500 and G4S PLC (LONDON:GFS) was down 0.12% or 0.30 points to 248.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1657 to 500 and 400 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.92% or 10.40 to $1123.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.38% or 1.10 to hit $47.35 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.51% or 0.77 to trade at $51.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.33% to 1.5250, while EUR/GBP fell 0.74% to 0.7284.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 96.50.
