Investing.com – China stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Retailers and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 1.45%, while the SZSE Component index declined 1.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Eastlake Tech (SS:600133), which rose 10.05% or 0.950 points to trade at 10.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Hang Zhou Iron (SS:600126) added 10.05% or 0.750 points to end at 8.210 and Whirlwind (SS:600172) was up 10.03% or 1.220 points to 13.380 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merro Pharm (SS:600297), which fell 10.02% or 1.900 points to trade at 17.060 at the close. Routon Elect (SS:600355) declined 10.00% or 2.070 points to end at 18.640 and Guangan (SS:600979) was down 10.00% or 0.920 points to 8.280.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Hangzhou Binjiang Real Estate Group Co Ltd (SZ:002244) which rose 10.06% to 7.11, Suzhou Good-Ark Electronics Co Ltd (SZ:002079) which was up 10.03% to settle at 7.79 and Foshan Electrical and Lighting Co Ltd (SZ:000541) which gained 10.02% to close at 12.63.
The worst performers were Vtron Technologies Ltd (SZ:002308) which was down 10.01% to 22.570 in late trade, Henan Senyuan Electric Co Ltd (SZ:002358) which lost 10.01% to settle at 17.00 and Zhangzidao Group Co Ltd (SZ:002069) which was down 10.00% to 14.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 785 to 169.
Shares in Henan Senyuan Electric Co Ltd (SZ:002358) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.01% or 1.89 to 17.00.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 4.29% to 46.86.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 4.90 to $1106.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.39% or 0.17 to hit $44.32 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $47.52 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.03% to 6.3795, while EUR/CNY fell 0.10% to 7.1399.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 96.12.
