Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which rose 3.02% or 55.0 points to trade at 1875.0 at the close. Meanwhile, MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 2.99% or 25.00 points to end at 861.00 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was up 2.80% or 2.04 points to 75.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR), which fell 3.16% or 0.0790 points to trade at 2.4210 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) declined 3.09% or 38 points to end at 1190 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was down 2.92% or 20.50 points to 680.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 105 to 89 and 19 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.30% to 46.950.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.43% or 30.10 to $1209.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.02% or 0.30 to hit $29.74 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $33.36 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.80% to 77.7310, while EUR/RUB fell 2.77% to 86.164.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.87% at 96.82.
