Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Insurance and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (L:AAL), which rose 6.58% or 29.65 points to trade at 480.25 at the close. WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (L:MRW) added 5.91% or 11.10 points to end at 199.00 and Intu Properties PLC (L:INTUP) was up 4.13% or 11.90 points to 300.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included London Stock Exchange Group PLC (L:LSE), which lost 4.93% or 139.00 points to trade at 2678.00 in late trade. Shire PLC (L:SHP) declined 2.80% or 109.00 points to end at 3788.00 and Capita PLC (L:CPI) shed 2.72% or 28.00 points to 1002.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1096 to 1018 and 465 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.98% or 11.90 to $1232.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.56% or 0.84 to hit $33.62 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.82% or 1.00 to trade at $36.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.27% to 1.3915, while EUR/GBP fell 0.96% to 0.7806.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 98.36.
