Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.10% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 6.14% or 3.08 points to trade at 53.28 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 1.04% or 0.25 points to end at 24.25 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 6.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 4.48% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.64 in late trade. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) declined 3.98% or 0.130 points to end at 3.140 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 1.92% or 0.30 points to 15.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 13 and 58 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.52% or 0.66 to $44.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.22% or 0.56 to hit $46.60 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.43% or 5.75 to trade at $1344.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.41% to 355.520, while USD/NGN fell 0.31% to 321.000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 95.66.
