Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Other, Iron & Steel and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tai-I (TW:1613), which rose 10.00% or 0.310 points to trade at 3.410 at the close. Super Dragon (TW:9955) added 9.97% or 1.80 points to end at 19.85 and L&K Eng (TW:6139) was up 9.94% or 2.50 points to 27.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Evertex (TW:1470), which lost 8.64% or 1.90 points to trade at 20.10 in late trade. Space Shuttle (TW:2440) declined 6.90% or 0.62 points to end at 8.36 and Yoko Tech (TW:6131) shed 6.06% or 0.70 points to 10.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 423 to 332 and 98 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.26% or 0.12 to $46.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $49.82 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.63% or 8.55 to trade at $1357.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 31.425, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2115.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.46.
