Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals, Transportation & Logistics and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.86%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.65%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 2.78% or 4.000 points to trade at 148.000 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 2.48% or 2.550 points to end at 105.550 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 2.13% or 0.265 points to 12.715 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which lost 2.36% or 0.410 points to trade at 16.990 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 1.76% or 0.136 points to end at 7.600 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.88% or 0.205 points to 23.050.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 5.44% to 58.320, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 2.79% to settle at 37.53 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 2.21% to close at 138.700.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 1.33% to 39.630 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which lost 1.06% to settle at 67.000 and Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which was down 0.87% to 25.570 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 12.98% to 54.570, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 4.35% to settle at 8.630 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 4.24% to close at 19.925.
The worst performers were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which was down 7.69% to 0.036 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 1.40% to settle at 79.670 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 0.87% to 48.580 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 465 to 272 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.01% to 15.26.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.43% or 5.35 to $1234.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.39% or 0.73 to hit $53.07 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.51 to trade at $55.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.35% to 1.0661, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8515.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 100.58.
