Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Services, Transport and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.79% to hit a new 52-week high, while the ADX General index added 0.64%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which rose 7.79% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.660 at the close. Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC) added 6.06% or 0.080 points to end at 1.400 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was up 5.74% or 0.030 points to 0.553 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 4.41% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.300 in late trade. Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) declined 2.52% or 0.016 points to end at 0.620 and DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) shed 1.49% or 0.020 points to 1.320.

The top performers on the ADX General were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which rose 14.98% to 2.84, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was up 4.44% to settle at 0.9400 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which gained 4.01% to close at 7.00.

The worst performers were Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 5.14% to 2.400 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 3.81% to settle at 1.0100 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which was down 3.51% to 2.200 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 15 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 17 rose and 8 declined, while 3 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.57% or 0.85 to $53.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 1.59% or 0.91 to hit $56.19 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.42% or 4.95 to trade at $1178.35 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.09% to 3.8645.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 102.37.
