Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.78% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Unipol Gruppo Finanziario Spa (MI:UNPI), which rose 2.67% or 0.100 points to trade at 3.840 at the close. Freni Brembo SpA (MI:BRBI) added 1.99% or 0.25 points to end at 12.81 and Prysmian (MI:PRY) was up 1.26% or 0.32 points to 25.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UnipolSai Assicurazioni SpA (MI:US), which lost 3.63% or 0.072 points to trade at 1.911 in late trade. Unione di Banche Italiane SpA (MI:UBI) declined 2.69% or 0.1040 points to end at 3.7660 and Banca Generali (MI:BGN) shed 2.36% or 0.63 points to 26.06.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 208 to 155 and 12 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.22% or 0.55 to $45.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.11% or 0.53 to hit $48.16 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 2.97 to trade at $1242.83 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1410, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8771.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 95.49.
