Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Iberdrola (MC:IBE), which rose 1.55% or 0.108 points to trade at 7.063 at the close. Acciona (MC:ANA) added 1.51% or 1.240 points to end at 83.400 and Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) was up 1.47% or 2.50 points to 172.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which lost 2.04% or 0.410 points to trade at 19.640 in late trade. Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) declined 1.59% or 0.575 points to end at 35.535 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) shed 1.24% or 0.013 points to 1.038.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 111 to 69 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.20% or 2.47 to $1255.57 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.74% or 1.92 to hit $49.44 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.47% or 1.87 to trade at $52.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1219, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8656.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.04.
