Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Aegon (AMS:AEGN), which rose 0.90% or 0.064 points to trade at 7.176 at the close. Meanwhile, OCI (AMS:OCI) added 0.70% or 0.210 points to end at 30.280 and Unilever NV (AMS:UNc) was up 0.68% or 0.28 points to 40.76 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which fell 3.31% or 0.28 points to trade at 8.10 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO) declined 2.07% or 1.45 points to end at 68.66 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) was down 1.79% or 0.47 points to 25.73.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 139 to 77 and 4 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.00% to 16.18.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 2.01% or 1.02 to $49.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.04% or 0.59 to hit $56.45 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.03% or 11.40 to trade at $1092.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.44% to 1.0887, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.6982.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 97.84.
