Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.43%, while the ADX General index lost 0.97%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR), which rose 1.95% or 0.130 points to trade at 6.800 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 1.63% or 0.010 points to end at 0.625 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) was up 1.32% or 0.020 points to 1.530 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC), which lost 7.86% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.58 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 2.86% or 0.100 points to end at 3.400 and Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) shed 2.63% or 0.050 points to 1.850.

The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 7.50% to 0.430, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which was up 3.61% to settle at 0.8600 and Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which gained 1.12% to close at 2.72.

The worst performers were Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which was down 10.00% to 2.70 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 7.92% to settle at 0.93 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was down 7.69% to 6.60 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 7 advanced, while 11 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.11% or 0.05 to $45.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $46.94 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.54% or 6.80 to trade at $1257.20 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.21% to 4.1670.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.56% at 93.85.
