Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Consumer & Cyclical and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.13%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.25%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which rose 2.83% or 4.70 points to trade at 170.70 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.80% or 0.345 points to end at 19.555 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 1.52% or 0.250 points to 16.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which lost 1.62% or 1.090 points to trade at 66.100 in late trade. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) declined 1.04% or 0.890 points to end at 84.600 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 0.99% or 0.170 points to 16.950.
The top performers on the MDAX were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which rose 2.09% to 15.41, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 2.07% to settle at 12.070 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.33% to close at 36.880.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 3.65% to 65.450 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which lost 2.27% to settle at 30.625 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 1.99% to 95.50 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 9.41% to 11.165, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 4.91% to settle at 65.640 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 4.52% to close at 227.95.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.20% to 123.00 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 0.97% to settle at 102.500 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 0.34% to 20.695 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 429 to 301 and 20 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.54% to 12.94.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.33% or 4.14 to $1251.36 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.58% or 0.30 to hit $51.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.29 to trade at $53.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1178, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8639.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 97.31.
