Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Financial Services and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Okuma Corp. (TOKYO:6103), which rose 8.70% or 69.0 points to trade at 862.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Corp. (TOKYO:8058) added 7.28% or 150.5 points to end at 2219.0 and Inpex Corp. (TOKYO:1605) was up 7.22% or 82.0 points to 1217.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6770), which fell 3.70% or 130.0 points to trade at 3380.0 at the close. Toray Industries, Inc. (TOKYO:3402) declined 2.73% or 29.0 points to end at 1032.0 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4519) was down 2.68% or 100.0 points to 3625.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1289 to 580 and 1 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 10.55% to 28.90.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.16% or 1.05 to $49.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.52% or 0.79 to hit $52.71 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.20 to trade at $1150.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.16% to 120.03, while EUR/JPY fell 0.27% to 135.17.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.56.
