Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 1.27% or 0.44 points to trade at 35.04 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 0.84% or 1.10 points to end at 132.25 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) was up 0.81% or 0.31 points to 39.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 1.05% or 0.69 points to trade at 64.98 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.90% or 0.680 points to end at 75.190 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.85% or 0.350 points to 41.000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 49 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1270.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.33% or 0.19 to hit $58.28 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.16 to trade at $64.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1869, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8877.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.89.
