Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 3.58% or 0.38 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.85% or 0.23 points to end at 12.67 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 1.21% or 0.760 points to 63.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.52% or 1.340 points to trade at 86.700 in late trade. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) declined 1.09% or 0.40 points to end at 36.34 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 0.75% or 0.72 points to 95.08.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 45 and 23 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.85% or 10.50 to $1218.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.43% or 0.74 to hit $50.89 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.87 to trade at $59.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1281, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8862.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 97.385.
