Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.36% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 1.93% or 0.68 points to trade at 35.62 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.50% or 0.38 points to end at 25.65 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.42% or 0.91 points to 65.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 3.01% or 2.290 points to trade at 73.750 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 0.82% or 0.23 points to end at 28.46 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.53% or 0.24 points to 44.76.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 55 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.55% or 6.80 to $1240.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.48% or 0.86 to hit $57.13 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.92% or 1.24 to trade at $63.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1723, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8800.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 94.19.
