Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.66% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 3.18% or 1.18 points to trade at 38.28 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.70% or 0.77 points to end at 46.11 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was up 1.44% or 0.38 points to 26.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which lost 1.17% or 1.30 points to trade at 109.60 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 0.07% or 0.01 points to end at 14.68 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 27.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 43 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.67% or 8.80 to $1311.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.47% or 0.91 to hit $62.64 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.75 to trade at $68.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1923, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 92.32.
