Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.69% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 2.11% or 0.81 points to trade at 39.44 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 2.07% or 0.59 points to end at 29.15 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.89% or 0.85 points to 45.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 0.44% or 0.230 points to trade at 52.000 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 0.40% or 0.26 points to end at 64.52 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 0.21% or 0.05 points to 24.18.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 48 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.24% or 2.95 to $1220.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $49.53 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $49.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1173, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.7629.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 95.29.
