Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.45% or 2.140 points to trade at 89.340 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 1.58% or 1.18 points to end at 75.94 and Argen-X (BR:ARGX) was up 1.06% or 0.70 points to 66.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which lost 1.52% or 1.12 points to trade at 72.79 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 0.89% or 0.20 points to end at 22.38 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.68% or 0.08 points to 11.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 46 and 22 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.17% or 2.10 to $1228.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.56% or 1.84 to hit $70.08 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.70% or 1.38 to trade at $80.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1535, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8781.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 95.08.
