Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.59% or 0.69 points to trade at 43.69 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 1.35% or 0.88 points to end at 66.08 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.10% or 0.40 points to 36.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.31% or 1.020 points to trade at 77.070 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 1.26% or 0.18 points to end at 14.52 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 1.19% or 1.40 points to 116.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 54 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.21% or 2.70 to $1262.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.47% or 0.27 to hit $57.49 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.21 to trade at $63.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1820, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8856.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 93.22.
