Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 3.57% or 0.76 points to trade at 22.04 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.05% or 1.20 points to end at 115.10 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.76% or 0.48 points to 63.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which lost 2.81% or 0.390 points to trade at 13.506 in late trade. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 1.94% or 0.880 points to end at 44.450 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) shed 1.78% or 1.66 points to 91.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 39 and 22 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1313.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.14% or 2.17 to hit $71.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.11% or 2.33 to trade at $77.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1854, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8741.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 92.92.
