Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 8.30% or 5.200 points to trade at 67.830 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.44% or 0.06 points to end at 13.74 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 0.03% or 0.05 points to 152.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 1.90% or 1.340 points to trade at 69.360 in late trade. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) declined 1.81% or 1.18 points to end at 64.06 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 1.45% or 0.225 points to 15.305.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 35 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.91% or 11.60 to $1290.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.69% or 0.34 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.15 to trade at $52.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1757, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.9059.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 93.36.
