Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which rose 0.38% or 0.40 points to trade at 106.80 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 0.36% or 0.40 points to end at 113.00 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.36% or 0.05 points to 14.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which lost 1.49% or 0.57 points to trade at 37.80 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.49% or 1.060 points to end at 70.160 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.36% or 1.080 points to 78.380.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 57 to 44 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.60% or 8.00 to $1336.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.01% or 1.28 to hit $62.26 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.55% or 1.06 to trade at $67.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.2277, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8712.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 89.83.
