Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.10% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 3.25% or 1.55 points to trade at 49.27 at the close. Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) added 3.07% or 0.73 points to end at 24.48 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 2.17% or 0.67 points to 31.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which lost 3.49% or 0.46 points to trade at 12.73 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 3.01% or 0.34 points to end at 10.96 and Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3) shed 2.99% or 2.20 points to 71.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 226 to 201 and 42 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.37% to 34.32 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.36% or 4.80 to $1339.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.78% or 0.50 to hit $63.80 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.29% or 1.58 to trade at $120.67 .
USD/BRL was up 0.26% to 3.2246, while EUR/BRL rose 0.31% to 3.9577.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 90.14.
