Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.17%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which rose 4.40% or 60.0 points to trade at 1425.0 at the close. Meanwhile, RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) added 2.90% or 8.50 points to end at 301.50 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) was up 2.58% or 63.0 points to 2503.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PIK (MCX:PIKK), which fell 3.21% or 6.00 points to trade at 181.00 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 1.84% or 0.417 points to end at 22.193 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was down 1.57% or 0.57 points to 35.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 135 to 73 and 10 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.65% to 44.250.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.91% or 10.30 to $1123.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.99% or 0.92 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.57 to trade at $51.08 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.05% to 66.868, while EUR/RUB fell 1.03% to 74.419.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.58% at 96.44.
