Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.15% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Hexo Corp (TSX:HEXO), which rose 19.05% or 0.320 points to trade at 2.000 at the close. Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:WEED) added 15.61% or 4.040 points to end at 29.920 and Cronos Group Inc (TSX:CRON) was up 6.25% or 0.57 points to 9.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd . (TSX:AEM), which lost 15.62% or 12.23 points to trade at 66.06 in late trade. MTY Food Group Inc (TSX:MTY) declined 8.45% or 5.05 points to end at 54.68 and Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX:ELD) shed 4.44% or 0.41 points to 8.83.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.14% or 2.30 to $1584.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.50% or 0.26 to hit $52.58 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.27 to trade at $57.59 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.14% to 0.7556, while CAD/EUR rose 0.14% to 0.6973.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 99.065.
