Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Clean Technology, IT and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX:TRIL), which rose 4.53% or 0.34 points to trade at 7.85 at the close. Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:LAC) added 4.44% or 0.91 points to end at 21.40 and Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:BBU_u) was up 4.36% or 2.18 points to 52.13 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Labrador Iron Ore Royalty Corp (TSX:LIF), which lost 4.33% or 1.80 points to trade at 39.77 in late trade. Interfor Corp (TSX:IFP) declined 3.95% or 0.97 points to end at 23.57 and Sprott Inc . (TSX:SII) shed 2.65% or 1.15 points to 42.22.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 607 to 354 and 129 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.40 to $1784.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.22% or 1.41 to hit $62.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.96% or 1.30 to trade at $65.15 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.01% to 0.7793, while CAD/EUR fell 0.17% to 0.6662.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.498.
