Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Pason Systems Inc . (TSX:PSI), which rose 10.71% or 0.78 points to trade at 8.06 at the close. Mullen Group Ltd . (TSX:MTL) added 10.11% or 0.71 points to end at 7.73 and Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC) was up 8.82% or 2.13 points to 26.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hexo Corp (TSX:HEXO), which lost 5.97% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.260 in late trade. NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:NG) declined 5.89% or 0.68 points to end at 10.87 and Silvercorp Metals Inc (TSX:SVM) shed 5.18% or 0.34 points to 6.23.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 733 to 310 and 98 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.51% or 8.85 to $1736.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.75% or 1.02 to hit $38.14 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.74% or 1.09 to trade at $40.81 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.18% to 0.7381, while CAD/EUR rose 0.71% to 0.6552.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 96.975.
