Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Element Fleet Management Corp (TSX:EFN), which rose 5.62% or 1.45 points to trade at 27.26 at the close. Meanwhile, CAE Inc. (TSX:CAE) added 5.00% or 1.15 points to end at 24.13 and Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX:AYA) was up 4.74% or 0.67 points to 14.81 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP), which fell 6.34% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.51 at the close. Franco-Nevada Corporation (TSX:FNV) declined 6.26% or 10.73 points to end at 160.58 and Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT (TSX:NWH_u) was down 4.80% or 0.24 points to 4.76.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 555 to 364 and 110 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.90% to 12.09.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.86% or 21.60 to $2,486.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.53% or 1.20 to hit $77.15 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.84 to trade at $79.85 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.27% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 102.44.
